Step 1: Warm the Whisk

  • Soak your whisk in warm water for 1-2 minutes.

  • Tip: Warming the whisk softens the bamboo bristles, creating a smoother whisking experience and preventing damage.


Step 2: Sift the Hojicha Powder

  • Sift 5g of hojicha powder into your bowl. Adjust the volume to your preference for a stronger or milder flavor.

  • Tip: Sifting the powder ensures a fine, smooth powder free from clumps, delivering a silky texture to the drink.


Step 3: Add Water

  • Pour 50-60ml of water at 70-80°C.

  • Tip: The optimal water temperature (70-80°C) preserves the matcha's delicate flavors, preventing any bitterness while bringing out its natural sweetness and umami.


Step 4: Whisk in M or W Motion

  • Whisk for 20-30 seconds using a chasen in an M or W motion.

  • Tip: Whisking in M or W motion aerates the powder, creating a frothy and creamy texture, unlocking the full depth of flavor.


Step 5: Add Ice & Milk

  • Add ice,

  • Then pour 100-120ml of milk of your choice.


Step 6: Finish with the Hojicha Mixture
